Jorge Lorenzo qualified on pole position for the fourth time this season, the #69 of his career. It is the first time that Lorenzo has achieved three consecutive pole positions since he joined Ducati in 2017 and the first time ever since 2012 (Aragón / Japan / Malaysia).

This is Jorge Lorenzo's second pole position in Aragón and the second for a Ducati rider, after Casey Stoner, who won it in 2010. Stoner then won the only race on the Aragon circuit.

This is the first time that a Ducati rider has qualified on pole for three consecutive races; the last to do so was Casey Stoner in 2008. Ducati riders will aim to win four consecutive races for the first time in Grand Prix competition.

Andrea Dovizioso starts from second place on the grid, it is his best qualifying result since second place at Silverstone and fifth front row of the year. He equals his best result in MotoGP (2014).

With Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso, this is the sixth Ducati one-two in qualifying and first in three consecutive races.

Marc Márquez completes the front row on the grid. He returns to the front row after the pole position at the Austrian GP. Márquez has won the last two MotoGP races at MotorLand and will look to equal Mike Hailwood in fourth place in the rankings of riders with the most GP victories with Honda.

Cal Crutchlow, fourth fastest, is the best driver of an independent team. He equals his best qualifying result of the season, Silverstone.

Andrea Iannone is fifth on the grid, equaling Barcelona's fifth fastest time. This is the best result for a Suzuki rider at MotorLand since Maverick Viñales set the second fastest time in 2016.

Dani Pedrosa, who won at Motorland in 2012, is sixth on the grid; it is his best qualifying result since he finished second in Spain. This is the third time this year that he has started from the first two rows of the grid.

Leading the third row of the grid is Danilo Petrucci. It is his best qualifying result since sixth place at Silverstone. Petrucci's best result at MotorLand is an 11th place in 2014.

Alvaro Bautista, starting from eighth position on the grid, is his best qualifying result since the seventh time last year at the Assen TT.

Alex Rins starts from ninth place on the grid as second Suzuki rider. This is Rins' best qualifying result since ninth place in Brno.

After qualifying through Q1 for the fifth time in 2018, Maverick Viñales qualified eleventh. It is the sixth time this year that he has qualified outside the top ten. He also has a 3 place grid penalty.

Takaaki Nakagami is the first of five rookies this year to have reached Q2 three times (Aragon, Catalunya and Germany).

Johann Zarco qualified fourteenth, his worst qualifying result since 19th at Sachsenring 2017.

Valentino Rossi qualified 18th, equaling his worst result in dry conditions in the premier class: It happened at Assen in 2006, when he suffered a broken wrist. He will start from the seventeenth spot thanks to a penalty given to Franco Morbidelli.
