MotoGP Jack Miller injury – Marc VDS team rider Jack Miller fractured his tibia during training with the trials bike last Friday.

The Australian, according to what the team declared, while he was training on a circuit in Andorra, fractured the upper part of the tibia of his right leg (already fractured in 2016 in a cross bike accident) in an attempt to save his motorcycle from a low-speed fall.

The rider was immediately transferred to the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona where he underwent surgery on Saturday morning. A plate and eight screws were applied to stabilize the fracture. Miller has already recovered some mobility and will begin an intense physiotherapy programme, the aim being to return to the track for the Phillip Island race in less than 20 days.

These are the words of Jack Miller: “Obviously I'm both frustrated and disappointed to have to miss the Japanese Grand Prix due to an injury sustained during training, especially as it wasn't even an accident! We were training on the trials bike and I put my foot down when I lost grip on the front tire. Nine times out of ten that would have been the end of the story, especially at such a low speed, but this time I must have caught my foot on something and fractured my right tibia near the knee. The fracture has been stabilized with a plate and screws and I already have some movement, but it is clear that I will not be on the bike at Motegi. However, I am determined to get back on the Phillip Island bike. This is what I will work on now with the physiotherapist."
