Second round of free practice for the riders of the MotoGP class in Estoril, scene of the "Grande Premio de Portugal", third stage of the 2012 world championship. Unlike Free Practice 1, everyone was immediately on the track, the asphalt dry and the sky "threatening" they have in fact "advised" the teams and drivers to go inside immediately and look for a good time.

Immediately interesting times with the Ducatis of Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden in the top positions in the first minutes, a Ben Spies in form and a Casey Stoner who once returned to the pits complained of an annoying bouncing of the rear of his Team Repsol Honda RC213V. Jorge Lorenzo, the Majorcan Yamaha rider who missed Free Practice 1 this morning, is in slight difficulty, but after a few laps he moves into the top positions. Once back on track, Stoner immediately took the lead and after a misunderstanding with Hector Barberà (who was taking advantage of his slipstream) he returned to the pits with a time of 1:38.982.

In the end, the Australian from Honda was the fastest, finishing with the best time of 1:38.396, a time set on the thirteenth of his fifteen laps completed. The reigning champion, as well as winner of the last race in Jerez, preceded the Yamaha of a revived Ben Spies (+321 thousandths) and that of the satellite team Tech 3 of an increasingly positive Cal Crutchlow by 346 thousandths.

Dani Pedrosa recovered at the end and finished fourth (1:38.797) ahead of Jorge Lorenzo's Yamaha, which was a bit in difficulty at the start of the Portuguese Grand Prix. The Yamaha rider who lapped in 1:38.930 preceded an excellent Alvaro Bautista, riding the Team Gresini Honda, who is starting to get to grips with his RC213V after having raced for Suzuki in previous years.

The first Ducati is that of Nicky Hayden, seventh with the Desmosedici GP12. The American, who is 633 thousandths of a second from the top (an overall acceptable gap), precedes his teammate Hector Barberà (riding the GP zero) and Valentino Rossi. The Ducati rider from Pesaro, who started with the same setting as in Jerez, keeps his gap from Stoner under one second for a start that is at least encouraging and not penalizing like that of the first GPs. Behind Rossi we find Andrea Dovizioso, riding the second Yamaha of Team Tech 3, a Dovizioso who, unlike Crutchlow, has yet to "understand" the YZR-M1, a new bike for him given that it comes from Honda.

The first CRT is Randy De Puniet, thirteenth and behind Karel Abraham's Ducati and Stefan Bradl's Team LCR Honda. The French driver of Team Power Electronics Aspar precedes team-mate Aleix Espargarò, Yonny Hernandez and our Mattia Pasini and Michele Pirro. Twentieth time for Danilo Petrucci, riding the Ioda.

A spectacular Rossi who, for more than half of the tests, managed to keep up, fighting to the limit, a great Barbera. Rossi will then have to give up his weapons to the wild Spaniard. A life-or-death duel between the two great rivals is also expected on Sunday.

for now Ben is doing well, let's hope he continues like this until tomorrow's qualifying and then above all in the race

Not bad, come on, we're in the same positions as always but the gap isn't large, maybe we can recover a few positions, go Nicky!

yet another confirmation, he always takes them with the same momentum. they'll call it the big blaf.

  • angelo said:

the same and the way he wanted it... moreover

    blaf?
    what is it, a detergent?

    you meant "bluff", right?

Have you lacked the courage or knowledge?

How do you give a thumbs down for a posted ranking (this doesn't concern me AT ALL) and without comment? poor crime novels, now I'll give you the chance.

the first Ducati rider (I'm a Ducatista) Hayden continues the development of the great D16 with humility and dedication, after alleged pilots-test-riders-designers-developers-with-a-second-on-the-wrist have literally destroyed Ducati's credibility and wallet . an increasingly convincing Barbera reduces the gap a bit, and up to this point everything is normal, after all they are not 9-time champions, poor guy Abraham with his dad's money has fun traveling around the world without worries and pretensions. who is missing? NONE I have put all the pilots that interest me. Casey COMES BACK

    @ Marco:

for once I strongly agree with you!
I would pay hard money for Stoner to return to Ducati, but starting tomorrow, not next year, because next year would be something else entirely.
Unfortunately, as much as both you and I may wish for it, it is a wonderful dream destined not to come true!

  • W_il_Sic said:

    PS
if you need a bit of comfort, I am the World Champion of "thumbs down" (in the sense that you give them to me, not that I give them) WITHOUT any comments.
What do you want to do, all Captain Courage, here.

  • Marco said:

I don't really put them on, of course, what use would they be?? on gpone I read a nice interview with Carletto Pernat and a bit of hope, weak but it's there... and it would be the dream of true Ducatisti and believe me there are many of us including the engineer. Precious.

  • W_il_Sic said:

    but maybe…
    Maybe!

I'm a Stonerian... anyway, I think Rossi is starting to do a good job with the bike... we'll see over the course of the season.
For the rest... Casey drives like a reasonable and serene satyr... the others, at the moment, seem to be driving while hanging!!
    Long live MotoGP!!

Come on Rossi, rise again, otherwise Wilsic will get an ulcer from defending you.
come on do it for him poor thing.
ps I feel sorry for you (and I'm not joking) take off the ham you have on your eyes, Rossi doesn't care about you.
