MotoGP | Danilo Petrucci, “Dovizioso and I are the only ones to beat Marquez”

MotoGP Ducati – Danilo Petrucci's first half of the season in his first year aboard the official team's Ducati can well be considered positive.

The rider from Terni has reached the podium on three occasions, including the sensational victory obtained at Mugello. Results which, in addition to third place in the general classification, also earned him a renewal for another season with the Borgo Panigale team.

“It's definitely been a great year so far. The first part was certainly very good and the culmination was the victory at Mugello. The first race I got on the podium and I did it again in the following race. Now we are very close to second place in the world championship. The goal is to stay there in the fight and worry Marquez. At Ducati they are working a lot and I have to thank them very much for this. Unlike me, they haven't taken holidays. They are very busy. Both Andrea Dovizioso and I managed to give our best, but even this wasn't enough. Marquez is going very fast, but we beat him twice and we were the only ones. We need to work even harder to do this again.

“My career has been atypical, I come from production motorcycles and it took me many years to establish myself. The turning point came in 2015 when Pramac and Ducati gave me the opportunity to race with a real MotoGP and from there I started scoring podiums. It was hard to resist. When you are a small phenomenon in the smaller leagues then you arrive in the aquarium of the big fish, with people I only saw on TV, it's not easy. Little by little I found my place."

I love Terni and the people of Terni and now we are trying with some entrepreneurs to create a space to introduce children to motorbikes.
