MotoGp Ciabatti: “The GP14.5 will help us mitigate understeer”

And for 2015 the Ducati sporting director promises a completely revised bike

Although the great results of the past seem unattainable for now Ducati he is slowly coming to his senses and thanks to two podiums in Austin and Assen, as well as several wooden medals, he is looking to 2015 with discreet optimism.

“The performance of Dovizioso at Silverstone it gave us courage because we finally saw the gap to our rivals reduce – the sporting director told us Paolo ciabatti – Certainly if we have witnessed growth we also owe it to the arrival last November of engineer Dall'Igna. In fact, although at that moment the bike was 90% ready he made an important contribution, so for example starting from Aragon we will bring the GP14.5 which will have engine details redesigned in order to use a different frame and more daring set-ups to try to reduce our chronic understeer.”

Moving on to the new project he continued: “It will be completely different compared to this update. The engine will be smaller but will maintain the 90 degrees and the desmo, while from the point of view of mere aesthetics it will be more or less the same as what we have now considering that recently the fairing has also been modified to have a greater load at the front" .

Afterwards, a few words about the riders: “Andrea believes in what we are doing and has therefore decided to renew his trust in the team. Cal Crutchlow Unfortunately he disappointed us and himself. In the tests he had done very well, especially in the one in Australia, but then he was lost between errors and mechanical misfortunes. In short, for the shared good and the importance of the results we understood that it was no longer the case to stay together. On the contrary, good Yonny Hernandez which, coming from the motard, is demonstrating excellent control whenever humid and wet conditions arise. Considering that he drives an evolution of the GP13, it is commendable to see him always sailing between twelfth and tenth place, furthermore, being the only South American in the group, he gives good publicity to the overseas brand."

Also regarding next season, the manager revealed: “Avintia has just signed with us to race with the GP14 used up until Indianapolis. It will be registered as Open and will have the Dorna and Marelli software and control unit. So far it is certain that one will go to Hector Barbera, which among other things in Spain should already be using it to carry on with the work given that we haven't had that configuration since the Jerez tests."

Finally, a reflection on the probable repercussions of failures on the market: “The brand is well positioned and represents the emblem of the sports motorcycle that provides a range of quality products. Let's say that we are suffering the common decline linked to the economic crisis, for the rest if you show the world that you know how to get back up after falls you buy back credit, otherwise you have damaged the company. For our part, we gave an initial push by returning to invest in Superbikes where we started fighting for the top 3 again."

I believe that at the very least Hernandez should ride this 14.5 next year, not a previous version, I really don't understand what sense there is in giving a bike from the previous year to a team that thus has to deal with 2 different bikes in the same garage, an unnecessary complication…
Now that they can foist the old versions on Avintia, I believe that Hernandez deserves a bike as close to the factory ones and that over the course of the year he too will receive the GP15 with a few less developments like Iannone.

And I add, if you really can't find one...give them Crutchlow's!

I completely agree, but Iannone's bike has no less advanced parts than Dovi's...

Iannone is a 100% factory rider this year.
      He always had Dovi's material.

The one with the least evolutions is Cal.

Next year they will certainly have the same treatment, and perhaps also from Aragon onwards.

Both Iannone and Pernat reiterated again this weekend that they have the Mugello engine and not the Indy one, but Pernat said that it is not because Ducati does not supply it to him, but because they had already punched 9 engines out of 12, and therefore the new one I presume who will have it from the next GP.

In that sense he doesn't have official treatment, and in any case since the beginning of the year, as is normal, he has always had things a little after Dovizioso and Crutchlow, because completely official treatment wasn't expected. I think it's normal given that you're part of a Satellite Team, the official riders are keen to have things first or only have them at the start, I don't think they would have been very happy if they had given everything to Iannone immediately.

From what I understood from the statements made by someone from Ducati whose name I don't remember, it certainly wasn't Dall'Igna, they passed certain updates to Iannone when they had new parts with which to replace them on the official bikes, at least for certain details. In short, when they stopped using a certain part, because it was replaced by a more advanced one, then this was passed to Iannone since there were pieces left over, something like that.

Even now they have the same material.

The latest evolution of the engine is not used by Iannone for a simple reason... It only gave him problems and it was declared that they wanted to analyze all the data before re-assembling it (or perhaps it was a stop calculated based on the Aragon step) .

Since the beginning of the season, both Pramac and Ducati have stated that Iannone is in all respects an official rider, with the exact same treatment as Dovi.

Iannone is treated on par with Dovi.

        The “back” one is Cal.

This does not take away from the fact that the Colombian has grown a lot and deserves a "more advanced" bike than the GP13.

in my opinion, given that cal has left and iannone will be an official rider, as of now under crutchlow's fairing there is iannone's motorbike and under iannone's fairing there is the motorbike that should be crutchlow's
