MotoGP: Casey Stoner “I'm not an emotional person, but leaving my motorhome was strange”
The Australian talks about what he felt in this last race weekend
Casey Stoner returns to write for the last time on the Repsol Honda team blog and does so to greet all his fans and to tell us about his last days as a MotoGP rider. The Australian, even if he was certainly not a showman, he had entered the hearts of many fans around the world and everyone in the paddock and in fact when he showed up in the press room for the last time in Valencia, all the journalists and professionals stood up to applaud him. A real standing ovation lasted 5 minutes, leaving Stoner with two shining eyes that clearly indicated his state of mind.
“I'm not an emotional person – Stoner said – even if I had to change my mind a little. Taking away all the pole watches, the 2012 trophies and all my belongings that I had in the motorhome, I realized that I was really leaving. In recent years my team has been like a second family, and the tracks like a second home, so it was strange not to have been on the track these days during the 2013 tests. For this last race several friends from Australia to see me and Chaz Davies (Superbike rider ed.) and his girlfriend were also there. Of course the race weekend wasn't perfect, so it was nice to have friends around and go with them to the awards ceremony on Sunday evening." The Australian is referring to the ceremony held in honor of him by Dorna on Sunday evening to nominate him “Legend of MotoGP”, he is the 20th rider to receive this honor .
“I was missing time for my life – concluded Stoner – but now it certainly won't be like that. Certainly next year I'll be back to watch a race or two, maybe I'll come during a rainy and cold weekend, so I can see the drivers leaving for the race, while I sip a nice cup of hot tea"

@lyonn. hi boy!! Going back to yesterday's post I meant that on the sport site merd@set they didn't talk about valencia but there were only "ARTICLES" about aragon!! I wasn't talking about the live broadcast... I meant that I'm a little biased... even if in any case, as MGP comments, it drives me crazy. We miss Reggio a lot though!!!

@lyonn. a nice wood stove in the garage with always a pot of water on it for the right humidity... and the beer is a pleasure. I have a friend who makes tons of it... and he makes it good too... if you need some advice I'll ask him!!
If you don't have an external vent or flue for the stove it's risky though... you burn all the oxygen in the room and create carbon monoxide.
An ex of mine and I did something similar in the mountains 26 years ago... luckily she felt ill and I took her to the hospital...
If I had been alone... I would have fallen asleep and I wouldn't be here...
However, I can find a place: I'm studying unhopped malt extracts for now :-)

@h954r. dirty pig if it's strange... the bad thing will be the first race, when we really realize that he doesn't run anymore. However, I am sure he will return. Coming from someone who wanted to name his son Casey!! ps: think that when my wife was born they assigned him bed number 27, and his folder containing his data was red with the number 27 printed on it!!! if it wasn't meant to be that I had to call him Casey... and if anyone doesn't believe me I'll post all the photos!!!

(you will know this friend of mine this spring. what's more, he's very much in love with motorbikes!! all my models (of Casey) have become his!! and the minibike (camel. but a Biaggi replica...) is already in the garage!! ps: he has 2 years old and has a wonderful 7 year old sister!! my princess. sorry if I wrote a bit about my jewels….

It certainly won't be 5 or even 10 minutes of applause that will make this guy waver...all the fans, including those of the Australian, don't like the idea of a MotoGP without the number 27...but Casey is an extraordinary rider and a person out of the mainstream...rejecting 15 million is not for everyone...his is a very noble choice...to dedicate himself to his family and have time for himself...a simple person with no worries like him couldn't resist for long in this environment...Casey is a racing animal, a pure track animal...he's not interested in the limelight or fame...and I'm sure that if you give him a motorbike and a track and opponents to beat he won't hold back... maybe all behind the garden of his house... but no longer in a race with sponsors, umbrellas, briefings, photos, paddocks, press conferences, promotional commitments etc... just a black strip of asphalt... you will see that it will once again lower the helmet visor and will give us the thumbs up...and then what he did on and off the track won't go down in history or do you believe that winning with a Ducati is something for everyone? or do those crazy laps on a Honda? or better and more emblematic of all…Triumph where Rossi miserably failed? and I would also say, the icing on the cake, rejecting a MONSTER offer from HRC, the largest and most powerful motorcycle manufacturer in the world, which for the first time has GIVEN PRIORITY TO THE RIDER AND NOT THE MOTORCYCLE????!!!! !
