The Majorcan from Yamaha sets the best time, with Stoner and Rossi behind

MotoGP Barcelona, Free Practice 2: Lorenzo ahead of a surprising BautistaMotoGP Barcelona, Free Practice 2: Lorenzo ahead of a surprising Bautista

"Very hot" weather in Montmelò for the second free practice session of the "Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya", the fifth stage of the 2012 world championship. More than 30 degrees in the air and over 45 on the asphalt for these Free Practice 2s which saw all 21 drivers of the premier class between prototypes and CRTs take to the track.

The best time was set by Jorge Lorenzo who lapped under the circuit record with a time of 1:42.099. The world championship leader rode with great determination and managed to get the better of a surprising Alvaro Bautista, rider of the Honda San Carlo Gresini Team, by just over two tenths. The former Suzuki rider also led the session which saw Yamaha's British rider Cal Crutchlow in third place (1:42.447).

Fourth time for another Yamaha, that of Andrea Dovizioso from Forlì. The Team Tech 3 rider who lapped in 1:42.447 precedes Hector Barberà, riding the Ducati. The Team Pramac rider is followed by Ben Spies, on Dani Pedrosa's Team Repsol Honda (1:42.870) and by an excellent Stefan Bradl, eighth, 844 thousandths from the top on the LCR Team Honda. The 2011 Moto2 champion had an excellent start to the season and will aim to do well here too.

Closing out the Top Ten are the first official Ducati, the one with Nicky Hayden's carbon swingarm and a subdued Casey Stoner. The Australian who was the fastest this morning is in fact more than a second behind the top, unable to repeat the 1:42.775 of Free Practice 1, a time that would have allowed him to "break away" in sixth place.

Valentino Rossi is twelfth, also preceded by Karel Abraham's satellite Ducati. The nine-time world champion, who continues to use the aluminum swingarm tested this morning and in the Mugello tests, is 1.439 and about half a second behind Hayden. It is obviously too early to "reject" the new solution, also because Rossi had clearly said yesterday that he was better off with the aluminum version.

I do not understand! how will Barbera set a time
less than one second than that of the largest
motorcycling phenomenon of all time? Or maybe they let his race on the official Ducati
      twin brother?

    Well done Lorenzo.
But Rossi, instead of trying and trying billions of things to be able to make the bike go on its own, why doesn't he put his own effort into it like Haiden does who tries half the things and gets better results without confusing everyone in Ducati?

Stoner's position is very strange...let's wait for FP3 for any alarm bells.

    1. H954RR said:

Casey and Pedro rode the whole time on the harder tires unlike the others, otherwise Casey was in front, the track record is still his WITH THE DUCATI!

      1. Stonami77 said:

the fact is that we are apparently in difficulty on a track favorable to the Hondas, Lorenzo is fast (and very fast), even if in second position there is a customer Honda... with soft tires I think, in my opinion, given the high temperatures, the HRC riders suffer a lot from Chatter... this time it will be tough! Go Casey!

We'll see tomorrow but it seems strange to me that Bautista is so far ahead.
I'm confident, tomorrow they will both be at the front together with the Yamahas.

    IMPORTANT APPEAL

It was lost as a child named Valentino, who drives a red scooter. Anyone who has seen him is asked to contact his parents immediately at the track bar... if the child is crying don't pay attention because he has been in this condition since his scooter was colored from blue to red!!

    1. FANTOMAS said:

      ALARM REMOVED

The child returned of his own free will, the removal was intentional because he did not want to play with the other children with the same motorbike, the little boy reports that he doesn't like the same toys and wants a ++++ fast motorbike of the others …..

Look, this is beautiful, it's not mine but it belongs to a friend of mine from another blog.

At the end of the tests the Ducati mechanics went with rags to clean the midges squashed on the fairing of Rossi's motorbike and then the surprise, they realized that the midges had only fainted and flew away on their own!

I keep wondering where you were the day after the beating that Vale gave the good Stoner...
You had all disappeared like worms into your lairs...
All it took was a flick from the doctor who put on a show with a decent motorbike and you were eclipsed... and now you pop back out after an insignificant free run in which even your favorite got caught for a second...

You are the ones who only root against... you are the ones who have barbarized this forum so...

…I hope that Vale soon has a better bike and wins… not because I'm a stickler like you… but because if Stoner takes another beating, at least we'll get a great result:

The extinction of trolls like you!!!

    Bye

But in fact... he was the only one among the demented Stonerians to show up... and he did it with a much more peaceful and forum-like tone.

This is why I hope for a victory for the doctor with a decent bike... so guys like that either disappear or become much smaller... ;)

Read the comments on the post French GP to believe it…! :)

We were relaxed because we knew it was useless to talk about an insignificant race taking into account that Casey didn't take any beatings and only limited the damage so as not to needlessly lose points to Lorenzo.
Only you are convinced that Casey took a beating from the thong!

Well, always criticizing...Rossi put nine riders behind him. The masterpiece has been touched.

    1. H954RR said:

But didn't he (Rossi) say that after the Mugello tests he had found more confidence and improvements in the bike?

  • Stonami77 said:

Enea, I have always been present trying to analyze the races (all of them) from a technical point of view (even being a Stoner fan), I believe that the Rossi - Ducati duo is not destined for great successes for the simple fact that Rossi does not manages to manage the "character" of the bike, which in the wet becomes less grumpy and more docile (for obvious reasons), but in the dry you have to "groom" it well, otherwise you risk going slowly... this is Rossi's limit ..it's simply called Adaptability..it's certainly not inability to drive in the broad sense (after 9 titles!); Then if we want to discuss the melee, ok, but it would be more interesting to understand why, after some time, Rossi's team was unable to find the key to the problem...

But if the comments were all in the tone you just used it would be fantastic... in fact I agree with 90% of the things you say. ;)
But even if I didn't share even a crumb of what you wrote, it's the way you positioned yourself that is a forum tone...
My mistake is probably that I sink to their level and end up resembling them.. brrrrr -.-

Tell me if the above comments WRITTEN BEFORE MINE are worthy of a motorcycling forum...
