MotoGP Barcelona, Free Practice 2: Lorenzo at the top, Rossi is sixth
The reigning champion preceded Maverick Vinales and Cal Crutchlow
GP of Catalunya MotoGP Free Practice 2 – Jorge Lorenzo was the fastest in the second free practice session of the MotoGP class held at the Montmelò circuit in Barcelona, scene of the Catalunya Grand Prix.
The reigning champion set a time of 1:41.712, a time set on the fourteenth of the seventeen laps made.
The Majorcan preceded his Suzuki compatriot Maverick Vinales by 0.242s, the fastest in Free Practice 1 and who will take Lorenzo's place in Yamaha next year, with the latter "wearing" Ducati Red.
Surprise third time for Cal Crutchlow. The British rider of Team LCR is just a few thousandths behind Vinales and precedes his teammate Dani Pedrosa, who is making a great recovery compared to this morning's free practice.
Scott Redding also made a great recovery, placing the Ducati GP15 of Team Pramac in fifth position, ahead of Valentino Rossi's Yamaha.
After the heavy setback at Mugello (engine failure due to a problem with the rev limiter), the Pesaro rider will have to try to get ahead of his rivals in the title race, namely Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez. The latter is only ninth and still having difficulty with the set-up of his Honda RC213V.
Hector Barberà with the Ducati of Team Avintia and Andrea Iannone with the new Desmosedici GP precede him. Andrea Dovizioso is still struggling, tenth and behind Marquez. Danilo Petrucci (Ducati Pramac) finished in thirteenth position, 1.118s behind Lorenzo.
