Yamaha MotoGP 2015 – Jorge Lorenzo never stops and after the victories in Jerez, Le Mans and Mugello, poker has arrived in Catalunya, on the Montmelò circuit, just outside Barcelona. The Majorcan rider set a new record, 103 consecutive laps in the lead, beating the previous one set by Casey Stoner, who in 2007 "stopped" at 88. With this victory he brings himself to just one point behind the world ranking leader, his team -mate Valentino Rossi.

“This was my most difficult victory, but the hardest races were Qatar, Austin and Argentina. Today the last ten laps were the hardest of my career. Valentino was very fast, the track had less grip, so it wasn't easy to keep him behind.”

Was the track slower today?

“Compared to yesterday we were going a little slower, we couldn't lap in 1'41, it wasn't possible. Valentino (Rossi, ed.) on the other hand is incredible, he always manages to go faster in the race. When he closed the gap from 2.0s to 1.4s I was really worried that I might lose this race. I needed to push and risk more, but the bike was moving a lot and it did so in all ten of the last ten laps.”

Did you expect an easier race?

“After yesterday's practice I expected perhaps not an easy victory, but more distance between me and second position from halfway through the race onwards. It went well anyway and I thank Yamaha and my entire team.”

When Marquez fell did he touch you?

“I would have to look at the images again, at first I didn't even understand that it was Marquez, I wasn't able to distinguish the colors well. I thought it was Aleix Espargarò.”

Is Lorenzo color blind? :) okay, it's difficult to see who falls, however I think he knew that Marquez was behind him... a few laps had passed, and it could have been Dovizioso or Marquez but perhaps he didn't look at the pit signs in the first 3 laps...

I think you don't remember well how the race went, I seem to remember that they said he fell in second, but in reality I think it was third...

He crashed on the third lap in the fourth sector...

Marquez was second and Dovizioso third from the end of the first lap, Lorenzo's excuse is the fact that he only passed at the end of the first lap and at the end of the second at the finish line, he only had two passes in which to understand who was behind him. But perhaps Jorge didn't understand the fall because he didn't see it in real time but from some television screen.

So the first lap goes well with a standing start Lorenzo went faster than everyone, the second lap he did the fastest lap immediately beaten by Marquez who followed him closely, and therefore the passage of the second lap remained the fastest lap fastest of the race set by Marquez less than a tenth better than Lorenzo's second lap.

In the third lap Lorenzo was still going faster and in fact he finished the lap just 6 thousandths behind Marquez's lap set the lap before. Marquez himself was improving himself and was still lowering the time he set the lap before, but in T4 he asked too much and crashed.

      Jorge Lorenzo
      First Lap 1'46.341 – T1 21.074 – T2 31.916 – T3 20.628 – T4 32.723 – Speed 279.7

      Second Lap 1'42.287 – T1 17.344 – T2 31.696 – T3 20.574 – T4 32.673 – Speed 335.5

      Third Lap 1'42.225 – T1 17.218 – T2 31.748 – T3 20.598 – T4 32.661 – Speed 335.4

      ---------------

      Marc Marquez

      First Lap 1'46.595 – T1 21.217 – T2 32.042 – T3 20.628 – T4 32.708 – Speed 279.7

      Second Lap 1'42.219 – T1 17.214 – T2 31.757 – T3 20.680 – T4 32.568 – Speed 335.5

      Third Lap 2'27.004 – T1 17.237 – T2 31.713 – T3 20.557 – T4 32.661 – Speed 330.2

The somewhat surprising thing is to see that the speed with the standing start of Lorenzo and Marquez is identical in the tenth and also that of the following lap, despite Marquez being in the slipstream and having done a better T4.

Marquez's T4 of Lap Three is 1'17.497 not 32.661 – copy and paste wrong sorry :)
