Austrian GP Red Bull Ring MotoGP Ducati – Jorge Lorenzo closed the first day of free practice on the Spielberg circuit with the fifth fastest time in the combined time classification.

In the first free practice session, the Majorcan finished less than 4 tenths behind his teammate, Andrea Dovizioso, while in the afternoon the Austrian managed to replicate the same performance as the Forlì native in the morning, which earned him fifth place.

Jorge took to the track with the new winged fairing, already used in Brno, which is working well but which requires different set ups to avoid creating problems in other parts of the bike.

These are the words of Jorge Lorenzo: “It wasn't an easy day. Everyone is very close, the Yamaha and Honda are fast, much more than last year, it's difficult to make a difference. This morning I was far from Dovizioso, I lack confidence in braking, we need to understand how to be competitive tomorrow. The hull is fine but that could be the problem, we need to find the right compromise with the adjustments. We ran these two sessions with the soft and medium tyres, and it will certainly be an option for the race but it's too early to decide."
