MotoGP Austin, Free Practice 4: Marquez still at the top, Dovizioso, Rossi and Iannone good
The reigning Honda champion still at the top, but the Italians don't give up
MotoGP Austin 2015 FP4 – The fourth free practice session of the MotoGP class in Austin, not valid for the purposes of entering Q2, saw Marc Marquez achieve the best time with a time of 2:03.548.
The reigning Honda champion brought his RC213V ahead of the Yamaha of compatriot Jorge Lorenzo, 0.355s behind. Excellent third time for Andrea Dovizioso's Ducati, who despite still having braking problems managed to lap in 2:04.255.
The rider from Forlì precedes the Yamaha of his compatriot Valentino Rossi, trailing the "Dovi" by just 87 thousandths. Andrea Iannone also made up ground, fifth with the second official Ducati. The driver from Vasto will however be "forced" to take part in Q1, given that in the combined times of the three free practices he was unable to enter the Top Ten.
Sixth time for the British Cal Crutchlow, riding the Honda of Team LCR. The former Ducati rider is followed by compatriots Scott Redding (Honda) and Bradley Smith (Yamaha) and by Colombian Yonny Hernandez. Tenth and eleventh times for the Espargarò brothers, with Aleix (Suzuki) ahead of Pol (Yamaha).
Danilo Petrucci from Terni achieved the twelfth fastest time. The Team Pramac Ducati rider, having achieved the Top Ten in the combined three free practices, will go directly to Q2, something that has never happened to him.
Twenty-first time for the Aprilia of Spaniard Alvaro Bautista, while Alex de Angelis from San Marino, riding the Iodaracing ART, was twenty-third. Marco Melandri, riding the second Aprilia RS-GP closes the list of times.
