Nicky Hayden did not finish higher than ninth in his home race in Austin. The Ducati rider had difficulty changing direction and never had a feeling with the front end of his Desmosedici GP13. The word is up to him.

“It was a really tough weekend for me. The Austin track is fantastic, but unfortunately I lost some time in the first laps and I was struggling especially when changing direction. I've never been able to find the confidence in the front end and tackle the corners in the best way. The guys in the team had done a great job to prepare me the best set-up for the race, and so I have no excuses. A ninth place is not what we wanted today, but I am confident for the rest of the season.”
