MotoGP Austin: Bautista scores the first point for Aprilia, signs of recovery from Melandri

MotoGP 2015 GP Austin Aprilia – Alvaro Bautista brings the first point for Aprilia in its new adventure in MotoGP. In fact, the Spaniard finished the Austin grand prix in 15th place, coming very close to the two drivers in front of him, giving the impression, in the final laps, of being able to gain a few more positions. A positive test, welcomed with satisfaction by the whole team. Signs of recovery also from Marco Melandri who, having made a good start, was however first slowed down and then forced to retire due to gearbox problems.

"I'm really happy! – said Alvaro Bautista – I was able to give my all in the race, also collecting our first point. I chose to use the soft compound tire on the rear and I managed to manage it well, not forcing it at the beginning and then maintaining as constant a pace as possible. At the end I was at my limit, otherwise I could have fought for thirteenth position, but that's okay: picking up points wasn't our goal, we simply wanted to finish the race, but we managed to do it and we're obviously satisfied with it. We concluded a truly very positive weekend, collecting useful data and sensations that will allow me to provide valuable explanations to the technicians in view of the next races. I thank the whole team, from the mechanics to the technicians who are committed to continuously improving the bike"

“It's a shame, because I started well and had put several of them behind – added Marco Melandri – But right from the start, I had problems with the gearbox, so much so that on the eleventh lap I had to stop. Luckily we'll be competing again in a week, I hope to find good weather throughout the weekend and be able to improve."
