MotoGP Assen, Free Practice 1: Ducati double with Iannone and Dovizioso, Rossi is seventh
Also very good was the Pramac Racing Ducati GP15 of Redding and Petrucci
Dutch GP MotoGP Free Practice 1 – Great start for Ducati in Assen, scene of the Dutch Grand Prix, eighth stage of the 2016 world championship.
The Borgo Panigale manufacturer in fact dominated with Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso, who took first and second position in Free Practice 1.
The rider from Vasto lapped in 1:34.349, a time 0.226s better than that set by his team-mate Dovizioso.
The two-wheeled "Red" also placed two satellite bikes in fourth and fifth position, respectively those of the British Scott Redding and the Terni native Danilo Petrucci. The two Pramac Racing riders incredibly achieved the same time on the GP15s, 1:34.660, +0.311s from the top.
Among the Ducatis we find Pol Espargarò's Yamaha in third position, while the official ones of Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi are in sixth and seventh position, ahead of Maverick Vinales' Suzuki.
Bradley Smith and Hector Barberà close out the Top Ten, while Michele Pirro, who replaces the injured Loris Baz here, is fifteenth with the GP14.2 of Team Avintia.
The Hondas are in difficulty, placing Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa in eleventh and thirteenth position, with the #93 at +0.623s from the top and the #26 at 0.945s.
It should be noted that the top ten are within the space of 0.605s and that within a second there are as many as fourteen riders, with Pirro 1.181s behind Iannone.
We remind you that the Ducati rider will be forced to start from the last spot on the grid after the penalty due to the collision with Jorge Lorenzo, which occurred in the Barcelona race.
