MotoGP Assen Alvaro Bautista: “The first objective was to finish the race”
The rider of the Go & Fun Honda Gresini team finished the seventh stage of the world championship in seventh position.
Alvaro Bautista's Dutch weekend ended with a seventh position. After two races that ended with crashes, his first objective was to complete all 26 laps. Mission accomplished despite various problems, including those with the rear brake, which convinced him to take a more careful ride. The word is up to him.
“We finished the race and this, above all, was the first objective of this weekend. A small consolation but after two setbacks it was, for all of us, too important. In the race I didn't have a perfect feeling with the bike because it wasn't stable and it moved a lot. Unfortunately, with the weather conditions being so variable we didn't have time to do a good job. At the beginning I tried to stay a little calm by warming up the tires well so as not to take excessive risks and perhaps I lost a little too much time, then from mid-race I had problems with the rear brake and I couldn't stop the bike. It took me a few laps to adapt to the situation after which I tried to finish in the best possible way. It was certainly not a good race but it was too important to finish it to think about the future with greater serenity."
