MotoGP Argentina: Did you know…?

– In the last three seasons Andrea Dovizioso has been the only rider who has always finished within the first two places, the opening race of the season.

– With Qatar's second place, Andrea Dovizioso has been on the podium with a Ducati 13 times, including last year's wonderful victory in Sepang.

– This will be the 13th edition of the Argentine GP and for the fourth time it will be held on the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit.

– Last year the two official Ducatis recorded the highest top speeds in the race, while in 2015 it was a private Ducati that set it.

– Dovizioso's second position in 2015 remains the best result achieved by a Ducati in the Argentine GP.

– During last year's race, Dovizioso was on the verge of second place when at the last corner he suffered contact from behind which caused him to fall and subsequently retire.

– Jorge Lorenzo finished 3rd in the 2014 race and at the moment, it remains his best result on this circuit.

– Last year's race was run under the “Flag to Flag” regime for safety reasons due to the critical conditions for the rear tyres. The race was then reduced to 20 laps and the riders were forced to change bikes after having covered a maximum of 11 laps using a new set of tires on the spare bike.

– The Argentine circuit is, after Phillip Island, the one where the highest speed average in the world championship is recorded (177km/h) with thrilling corners like N.6 where you go into fourth gear at 220km/h, or the fastest straight long where you reach 340Kmh.

– Turn N.1 is the most critical point of the track where the greatest number of falls are recorded. Of the 24 recorded last year, 15 occurred on this curve.

– The entrance to curve N.5 turns out to be one of the points where one of the greatest decelerations in the world championship is obtained, going from 340km/h to just 75 km/h.

– Michael Doohan with 3 victories is the driver with the most victories in Argentina. Here he also achieved his last success in the world championship.
