MotoGP | Argentina, Race: Marquez, “Everything seemed under control”
“We need to move on immediately,” he added
Argentina GP, HRC – Heavy misstep by Marc Marquez in the Argentine Grand Prix, second round of the 2017 MotoGP world championship. Despite the pole position achieved yesterday, the Spaniard from Honda was unable to score 25 points on the Termas de Rio Hondo track, suffering a bad fall which literally paved the way for his rival Maverick Vinales. Marquez, perhaps due to the lack of temperature on the front compound, lost the front end in turn three after just three laps, ending up on the gravel and ending his race prematurely. A misstep that will force him to win in the next round in Austin.
Here are the words of Marc Marquez: “It was a real shame because the situation seemed absolutely under control. I managed to maintain my position at the start and I felt a great feeling with the bike. I was able to ride it as I wanted and felt like I was going fast, but suddenly I lost the front, ending up on the ground. Maybe the front compound is still too cold or a depression in the ground, we don't know yet. A wasted opportunity given the great pace we were managing to keep, especially for the riders behind. Sorry, but racing is like that. We will try to move on and think about the next one."
