MotoGP Aragon, Free Practice 3: Rossi in the lead in a session affected by the weather
No time reference for Marquez, Pedrosa and Lorenzo
Valentino Rossi achieved the best time of the MotoGP Free Practice 3 in Aragon, scene of the fourteenth stage of the 2013 world championship. The rain that fell during the night affected the session, the big names only entered the track in the last minutes, when the asphalt it was almost totally dry.
The nine-time world champion lapped in 1:50.464 (yesterday Marquez's best time was 1:48.987), a time that allowed him to beat Alvaro Bautista, rider of Team Gresini, the only Honda to use, by just over half a second. Showa suspension.
Third time for Nicky Hayden's Ducati (1.081 points ahead), fourth for Aleix Espargarò's ART, fifth for the Yamaha SAT of Bradley Smith's Team Tech 3 and sixth for Hiroshi Aoyama, on the FTR Kawasaki of Team Avintia.
Andrea Iannone finished seventh, Danilo Petrucci ninth, Luca Scassa tenth and Claudio Corti eleventh. The two Hondas of Pedrosa and Marquez and the Yamaha of Jorge Lorenzo did not set a timed lap, as they preferred not to take risks given that they were already qualified for Q2 anyway.
