Marc Marquez took the pole position of the Aragon Grand Prix, the scene of the fourteenth round of the 2014 world championship. The reigning Honda champion, after dominating in FP3 and FP4, hit pole with a new track record, 1 :47.187. What worried him was his team-mate Dani Pedrosa, who with a few minutes to go had taken the lead with a time of 1:47.549. However, Marquez wanted to reiterate that he is the #1 of the Japanese manufacturer, taking back the lead in the timesheets right under the checkered flag.

Excellent qualifying for Andrea Iannone, who finished third and will therefore start from the front row tomorrow. The Team Ducati Pramac rider brought his Desmosedici just 136 thousandths behind Pedrosa. Another convincing qualifying for Andrea Dovizioso's next team-mate, who instead crashed in the final phase of qualifying and finished ninth.

Valentino Rossi did better than him, who after being forced to compete in Q1 to enter Q2, finished sixth, behind Pol Espargarò and the surprise Cal Crutchlow, fifth with the Ducati.

In the third row, in addition to Dovizioso, there are also Jorge Lorenzo and Stefan Bradl, the former on a Yamaha of Team Movistar, the latter on a Honda of Team LCR.

Disastrous Yamahas! The 2 Hondas improved by 6-7 tenths with Marc and 4 with Pedrosa! While the 2 Yamahas performed 3-4 tenths worse.
I think this reflects a bit what the difference is between the two bikes this year, an even bigger difference than there was last year. Last year Lorenzo won 8 with the injury involved, this year 0 in the 14th race. Marc may have improved since last year, but the Yamahas are really behind here :/

In my opinion, at least for these qualifications there is also a bit of responsibility on the part of the drivers. 4 tenths from Pol Espargarò's Yamaha sat is a bit too much...Certainly the 2014 bike didn't make the leap in quality that was expected, but I'm sure that in the race Rossi and Lorenzo will be closer even if the first two places seem to be booked. Well Iannone, who seems to have liked the GP 14.2 more than Dovizioso. The objective for the race will be to stay glued to fourth, hoping that having to run with the average does not prove to be a handicap.

Dovizioso didn't like the 14.2 ???but where were you these days ???he was always in front and it was even Iannone who had noticed a difference in braking, and only crashed in qualifying and so with the last lap he would have placed between the first ones, tomorrow will definitely come forward….

If the 2014 Yamaha was developed following Rossi's style, there is a notable step back compared to 2013 when Lorenzo won 8 GPs... This is anomalous, because Rossi has always been phenomenal in tailoring his bikes to himself.

The bike was made for both of us, following the advice of both. Rossi is not the top Yamaha rider, Lorenzo is there too! The problem with the new bike is perhaps more that it doesn't adapt to the new tires than a question of style

Anomalous and phenomenal? Exactly this happened in Ducati and much more quickly because he wasn't on the team with Lorenzo but with a Hayden who had no right to speak....

Marcolino's true phenomenon is great as usual, Dani and Iannone did well, it's a shame for Dovi, I think Jorge will come out in the race.
For the rest, don't worry and don't worry because tomorrow morning in the WM the 47-1 finds the miraculous set up and becomes competitive then in the race it either wins or definitely goes to the podium, this year we understood how he has to get the story out otherwise there'll be no interest and trouble if the ratings drop, and then he'll make more of a scene.
Come on, it's easy to understand how it was decided, in the meantime we're moving forward, keeping ratings and interest high while waiting for 2016 with the arrival of Michelin with the world championship already awarded to it.

hatred towards the 46 is fine but this is too much, not admitting that he is fighting like a lion when at least 7 years separate him from his rivals, keeping up with them among other things, this and wanting to discredit a driver at all costs.

      1. H954RR said:

        Why ?
It's just an opinion that arises from too many coincidences and when I remember the events of this man's past, at least to me, they come spontaneously.
You are free to believe it or not and have your opinion contrary to mine but in both cases they are legitimate and free things.
Mine is not hatred or wanting to discredit.

At the time let's see, he won and the credit was due to the lack of riders who weren't up to par, then he had the best bike, then he had the rubber, today at 35 years old almost 36 favor him for skiing.
But you don't like the bowls tournament?

HR546ZXR you are repetitive. You come out with the usual post in which you praise the first one and express compassion for all the others. It doesn't make you a sportsman... you write it only to then shovel manure on what really stimulates you to blog... your torment 46! In fact, then you vent (as always) against him. Grow up poor debauchee.

  • H954RR said:

Now let's see, winning is thanks to him, losing is the fault of something or someone, the rubber is nonsense only for some and well known by others, the articles talk about "the ratings are dropping and the only solution to attract attention again some people want a 47-1 victory" and that's it, in the tests EVERY TIME he always makes people laugh and in the WM he becomes super competitive again, the only one to improve by more than a second in a day is just him, etc. etc. and I'll stop here otherwise it won't end.
But you don't like the soccer tournament?

Yes, it doesn't make a difference, it's your brain that has some creases in my opinion.

Nice qualifications, they "got me well".

When you think the limit has been reached, the "Martian" appears again and lowers it by almost half a second (not nothing).
Marc is able to lap in 1.48.mezzo with hard tyres, on this track there is nothing for anyone, there is little to do.
    Step: 1.48.low – 1.48.medium

Pedrosa appears at the end of a so-so day. Mediocre tests, a "common" pace compared to his teammate, but in the end he still finds an excellent lap and puts himself in second position.
    Wheelbase: 1.48.high – 1.49.low

Iannone enjoyed starting from the front row. "New" bike finally and he doesn't ignore his "promises". Fast behind Dani in the first attempt, very fast alone in the second. unknown about tire grip. Did you notice the last stretch? He managed to give more than 1 tenth to Marquez. The bike is progressing and we hope it never stops again.
    Step: 1.49.low – 1.49.medium

Dovi, even though he is behind on the grid, this would have been, at the very least, his starting position without that damned fall on the last attempt. It had been a long time since he was "in print", and not because he was going slowly. The pace is very good, as is Iannone's. Tire seal unknown.
    Wheelbase: 1.49.low

Cal Critclow, for once he's here too. What happened to him this weekend? Strangely, he was more competitive than usual and he also did very well in qualifying, direct entry into Q2 and the final second row, something that has never happened this year, not even remotely, well done to him too, when he deserves it it's right to recognize it. Tire seal unknown.
    Wheelbase: 1.49.high – 1.50.low – 1.50.medium

Valentino and Lorenzo, together, both for positions (6th and 7th), and for the problems of Yamaha and the riders, because it is not only for the bike that we find ourselves so far from the "star", given that P.Esp . he did better than them (and not by a little). The 2 officials are 3.5 tenths away from the customer Yamaha. Lorenzo said he found 2 sets of "faulty" tires and wasn't able to express himself at his best. I don't know about Vale, but it's not just in qualifying that Vale's Yamaha's problems emerge, the pace can't leave you satisfied. In race configuration, Lorenzo goes reasonably well (leaving Marc aside), while Vale is a few "tenths" slower than Lorenzo.
We'll see if tomorrow morning they find something that can help them.
    Passo Vale: 1.49.middle – 1.49.high
    Lorenzo Pass: 1.48.high – 1.49.low

A lot will depend on the temperatures. It is said that tomorrow will be colder than today and if this is indeed the case, the Yamahas will find themselves in more difficulty, while Ducati and Honda should maintain if not increase the gap with the Yamahas.
    We'll see.

The final line goes to Barbera who, as soon as he got on the Ducati, managed to get through to Q2 at the expense of Hernandez, always very positive, but above all, ahead of Bautista's Honda GP which has been in a clear performance crisis for a few races now.
