MotoGP Aragon: Jorge Lorenzo, “Very important victory”

MotoGP 2015 Movistar Yamaha Gp Aragon Race – Jorge Lorenzo won the Aragon Grand Prix in the MotoGP class. The Yamaha rider thus achieves his sixth success of the season, which takes him from -23 to -14 from team-mate Valentino Rossi, third today. The rain nightmare that seemed like it was coming today has vanished and the #99 was able to breathe a sigh of relief after the last two races at Silverstone and Misano.

“Today I pushed a lot, the tension was very high and I wanted to gain an advantage over Marquez. I knew it would be difficult, because my pace was very similar to his and after the warm up I knew that he was very strong. We probably would have fought the whole race and maybe he would have beaten me in the final part, but today I was lucky. I saw him crash and then I had to wait another lap to see the gap on Pedrosa. It was already very big, after two laps, but I couldn't relax because I knew that Dani had Valentino behind him and on this track you can make a good pace – said Jorge Lorenzo – I needed to stay focused and not make mistakes and it was what I did the whole race. This is a very important victory that makes us forget the last two races. If I had lost more points to Valentino, it would have been almost impossible to win the championship. Now everything is open, you never know what can happen in the next three consecutive races, so we have to keep our feet on the ground and continue working as we are doing now. At Motegi in the last two years we have done well, even the circuit adapts more to the bike of our opponents. Maybe we can win, but for sure, with Marquez around it will be very difficult. I am very proud of the team and very proud of the work that everyone at Yamaha has done. They worked on all aspects, but especially on corner entry. That was our main weakness over the previous years. Today the team title arrived, it means a lot for us.”
