Danilo Petrucci MotoGP 2016 Aragon Ducati Pramac – Danilo Petrucci was the victim of a truly unusual accident during FP3 of the Aragon Grand Prix. The Team Pramac Ducati rider was leaving the pit lane when his bike was hit by that of Pol Espargarò, who had lost the front end of his Yamaha M1. The fall was violent, but the rider then returned to the pits and subsequently onto the track. However, the man from Terni lost his memory, not remembering everything that happened. In the end he took to the track for the following rounds, also achieving a positive third row. The word is up to him.

“Something like this has never happened to me, I hope everything goes well. I remember the crash but then I went back to the pits and I didn't remember falling or what had happened. I got back on the track but after the first corner I didn't remember where the next one was. I did a few laps, even hard ones, but I don't remember any of them. I felt like I had done one fast lap but instead I did six timed laps and I'm quite scared about that. Then I started to remember, even though I have some gaps, I'm a little worried about it and I hope to sleep and recover for tomorrow. We left the technical question aside for a bit to understand if I could ride the bike and in the end I managed quite well. I made the third row, maybe I could have done a little more, but it's okay.”

After the fall you went to the medical center, what did they do to you?

“They took an x-ray of my head and found nothing. Then they looked at my eyes and everything was fine with the reflections.”

Do you also have pain elsewhere given the extent of the fall?

“I would say no, fortunately 10 cm were enough to save my leg, the bike should be completely thrown away, if it had hit me in the leg I wouldn't be here talking to you now. We can say that I was also lucky, even if talking about luck after being hit coming out of the pits isn't even from a horror movie. I've been saying for years that luck will pay off, but it hasn't happened yet."

Do you have to undergo other checks before the race?

“I will do some checks both this evening and tomorrow morning, let's hope everything goes well.”

Now let's see if Dorna, the Safety Commission and the whole circus wait for the dead person before making amends.
Oh, by the way, get Tilke's fee reimbursed too!; not even an 8 year old rider would allow a track path (even a box one) to cross paths with the exit of an escape route.
