MotoGP | Ten years without Sic

Hi Marcone, like every year here I am talking about you. I admit that it's not easy, I'm always afraid of appearing banal and repetitive because, what can you say about Sic? This article wouldn't be enough to describe what you represented for motorcycling, what you represented for the enthusiasts who anxiously waited every Sunday to see you race and for what you still represent because, we promised you Sic, we won't leave you go from our hearts.

I still remember that cold autumn Sunday as if it were yesterday: the adrenaline rising like in every race, you smiling and waving towards the camera and then... the emptiness, a sensation that is still felt after all this time. There are many strong riders, many world champions who follow one another but that empty spot on the starting grid makes itself felt.
I swore that I would never watch a race again, it was like losing a friend, one of the real ones because I am convinced that as we saw you on TV, you were like that in everyday life too.

And then I said to myself: “What would Sic want?”.

You wouldn't have wanted us to stop watching racing because racing was your life and not watching it anymore would have meant that everything you did in your honorable career would have been for nothing.
And so, after all these years I am here to write about you and it is a privilege for me even if, I admit, I would have liked to write something completely different: about your successes, about your life, perhaps in an interview with a piadina, like the one I prepare every January 20th on the occasion of your birthday because yes, I was born on that day too.

I proudly carry the 58 tattooed on my right wrist and it is nice to see that this 58 continues to live: in a sticker attached to a helmet, in a flag or a t-shirt worn by a child. You gave us so much Marco and it is our job to keep your memory alive. We owe it to you and your wonderful parents who raised you with important values, proud of the goals achieved by their "baby".
