Originally the announcement was to be made in conjunction with the hiring of John Hopkins. However, various contributing factors led Kawasaki to postpone the release of the official press release, despite it being the "open secret" of the MotoGP paddock. Monster Energy is the new reference sponsor of the Kawasaki Racing Team, for a two-year agreement starting this season. The energy drink giant, second only to Red Bull, is already closely linked to the Akashi brand, sponsoring all the "factory" bikes in America, from Supercross with James Stewart to the ZX-10 and ZX-6R of the AMA Superbike and Supersport. Now Monster also becomes a partner of the MotoGP team, despite not being a "title sponsor", meaning the team will continue to be called "Kawasaki Racing Team" and the spaces on the two ZX-RRs will not be excessively large. This is why we will talk about it again next season.

The agreement between Monster and Kawasaki, with John Hopkins a decisive factor for this agreement (it has been linked to the American brand since 2007), will begin from the next tests at Phillip Island, where the definitive 2008 livery will be shown for the first time after that " provisional” seen in Sepang, very similar to that of the two-year period 2004-2005.

It should be remembered that the official presentation of the Kawasaki Racing Team is scheduled for February 15th in Jerez de la Frontera, with the start of the IRTA Tests in Andalusia the following day.
