MotoGP | Alpinestars: no problem with Quartararo's suit
"Zips and closures work perfectly, including the airbag"
After the Barcelona Grand Prix, Fabio Quartararo received a three-second penalty which dropped him to sixth position for “irresponsible driving”, having competed for three laps in the open suit.
Alpinestars technicians examined the French rider's suit for a long time and did not detect any anomalies. Here are some parts of their press release published on Twitter:
“After Sunday's race, Alpinestars' racing development team launched an investigation into the integrity of Fabio Quartararo's racing suit. After an initial post-race analysis in the Alpinestars Racing Development truck, the team found the suit to be in normal working order with all zippers and closures fully functional. Furthermore, all components of the suit, including the airbag, were intact and fully functional.”
“This is only a first evaluation, to be further investigated once the suit is in the laboratory at Alpinestars headquarters, carrying out all the tests and analyzes to better understand the cause of what happened. The Airbag system did not activate during the race, it worked as expected, as an accident situation did not occur."
