MotoGP | GP Jerez Qualifying: Marc Marquez returns to pole, Bezzecchi is second
65th pole in MotoGP, first with Ducati for the Gresini Racing rider, 93rd in his career
MotoGP Spanish GP Jerez Qualifying – Marc Marquez obtained pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix, fourth stage of the 2024 MotoGP.
The eight-time world champion gets his first start at the pole with the Ducati, 65th pole in MotoGP, 93rd in his career. The #93 of Gresini Racing on the wet track of Jerez set a time of 1:46.773, a time 0.271s better than that of our Marco Bezzecchi, Ducati VR46 Racing Team. Marquez hasn't been on pole since Portimao 2023, 1 year, 1 month and 2 days ago.
Also on the front row is championship leader Jorge Martin for a Ducati hat-trick. For the Borgo Panigale manufacturer it is the 15th front row entirely occupied by its own riders.
Second row for the KTM of South African Brad Binder and for the Ducatis of Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46 Racing Team) and Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing).
The two-time MotoGP world champion Pecco Bagnaia, the fastest on Day 1, set the seventh fastest time and will therefore share the third row with compatriots Franco Morbidelli (Pramac Racing) and Enea Bastianini (his team-mate, ed.).
Fourth row for rookie Pedro Acosta (KTM Team GASGAS Tech3), who crashed without consequences while having a seven-tenths lead, and for the Aprilias of Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargarò, with the Venetian bike in difficulty in mixed asphalt conditions.
Among others, KTM tester Dani Pedrosa, 1th, Aprilia tester Lorenzo Savadori, 16st, Luca Marini (Repsol Honda) 21nd and Yamaha riders Fabio Quartararo 22rd and Alex Rins 23th did not pass Q25.
