MotoGP | Silverstone GP Race: Bagnaia repeats Assen, beats Vinales
Great race by Enea Bastianini, who finished fourth, behind Miller
MotoGP British GP Race – Pecco Bagnaia on Ducati won the British Grand Prix in the MotoGP class, the 12th stage of the 2022 MotoGP championship held on the Silverstone track.
The #63 of the Borgo Panigale manufacturer ran an intelligent race, taking the lead with 9 laps to go, then resisting the attacks of Maverick Vinales, still on the podium with Aprilia and ahead of Jack Miller (Ducati).
For Bagnaia it is the fourth victory of the season, the eighth in MotoGP, which projects him into third position in the Championship, 49 points behind Quartararo, with Aleix Espargarò, stoic to race "over" the pain after the high-side of FP4 , who came ninth and was 22 points behind Fabio Quartararo, eighth today and having engine problems with his Yamaha.
The comeback of Enea Bastianini was sensational. Riding the Ducati Gresini after losing positions and a wing at the start due to a contact, he finished fourth, ahead of his rival in the "chase" to the 2023 Ducati Factory, Jorge Martin (Ducati Pramac).
Domination of Italian motorcycles. In the top five positions four Ducatis and an Aprilia (second with Vinales). It hasn't happened since 1968, the GP of Nations in Monza. For Ducati this is the 65th victory in MotoGP, 18th consecutive podium.
Good sixth place for Miguel Oliveira's KTM, which got the better of Alex Rins' Suzuki, who after also being in the lead, lost positions, finishing ahead of Fabio Quartararo and Aleix Espargarò.
Tenth position for rookie Marco Bezzecchi, who aboard the Mooney VR46 Racing Team Ducati preceded Brad Binder's KTM, team-mate Luca Marini, the Hondas of Takaaki Nakagami (LCR) and Pol Espargarò (Repsol) and the Yamaha by Franco Morbidelli, 15th at 16.359s from the winner.
Andrea Dovizioso (who will retire after the Misano race) finished 16th, while pole-man Johann Zarco crashed in the early stages of the race and then retired.
