MotoGP GP Japan Repsol Honda – Marc Marquez achieved pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix, the 16th stage of the 2022 MotoGP scheduled for Sunday at the Twin Ring in Motegi.

The eight-time world champion, who returned to Aragon more than 100 days after his fourth arm operation, "took advantage" of the wet track, which physically requires less effort.

A pole that the #93 of the Repsol Honda Team had lacked for three years, also achieved in Motegi. For him, 63rd pole in MotoGP, 91st in his career. Here's what Marquez said to Sky Sport.

Marc Marquez Statements 2022 MotoGP Japan GP Qualifying

“I'm very happy, the wet helped me a lot, I rode well, last year I was strong on the water but I didn't ride like that. Today I went fast and rode clean. I suffered less in the wet, less strength is needed, we hope to be able to find these sensations in the dry too. I still don't ride like I used to and in the dry the goal would have been the third/fourth row. Tomorrow will be a long and physically tough race. However, it is an important pole, for Honda and for the Team, it is a small incentive to work for next year.”
