MotoGP | GP Barcelona FP2: Aprilia double with Espargarò and Vinales

MotoGP Catalan GP Free Practice 2 – Aprilia party in the second free practice session of the Catalan Grand Prix, ninth stage of the 2022 MotoGP scheduled for Sunday on the Montmelò track, near Barcelona.

Aleix Espargarò aboard the RS-GP of the Venetian company set the best time with the best lap of 1:39.402, preceding his team-mate and compatriot Maverick Vinales by 0.303s, finally fast even on the flying lap.

The two Aprilia riders preceded the Ducatis of Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing), Pecco Bagnaia (Internal team and winner of the last race at Mugello), and Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing) trailing respectively by 0.488s, 0.548s and 0.587s s.

Brad Binder takes the KTM to sixth position, ahead of the Ducati of what could be his next team-mate with the Austrian bike, the Australian Jack Miller.

The Yamahas of reigning champion Fabio Quartararo close out the Top Ten and are also in provisional Q2 (fresh from contract renewal with the Tre Diapason house), Alex Rins' Suzuki and the second Yamaha Factory, that of a revived Franco Morbidelli.

Best rookie Fabio Di Giannantonio, who on the Ducati Gresini is 13th ahead of the other rookie Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati Mooney VR46 Racing Team) and Luca Marini (Ducati Mooney VR46 Racing Team).

Andrea Dovizioso is unable to get away from the rear and finishes 21st at 1.541s, immediately ahead of Ducati tester Michele Pirro, on the track as at Mugello with Aruba colours.

Rookie FP2 MotoGP GP Catalunya

The best rookie was Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati Gresini) 13th, followed by Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) 14th, Darryn Binder (Yamaha WithU RNF) 20th, Raul Fernandez (Team Tech 3) 24th, Remy Gardner (Team Tech) 3) 25th.
