MotoGP | GP Qatar 2 Day 1: Morbidelli, “Great reaction, we are going in the right direction”

MotoGP GP Qatar 2 Yamaha Petronas SRT 2021 – A satisfied Franco Morbidelli spoke at the end of the first day of testing for the Doha Grand Prix, the second race of the 2021 MotoGP which will also take place at the Losail International Circuit.

Despite a double engine problem on both of his Yamaha M1s which occurred in FP1, the Italian-Brazilian rider managed to reach the Top Ten, seventh place with a provisional Q2 secured. Here's what he said “Soft”.

“I'm happy with the reaction we got. A lot has happened in the last 3/4 days that I've been on the bike, but we're reacting well and this evening I got the answers I wanted and wanted. It's still not enough, but the direction is the right one, today there was more balance between day and night than last weekend. Today I only did a time-attack because I 'caught' two yellow flags, then with the medium tire I lapped faster than last week and more easily. I'm happy, we're going in the right direction."

“There was a problem this morning of which we don't yet know the causes, but from what I heard from the technicians it's not so big as to have to 'cancel' the two engines. It's not as big a problem as last year in Jerez. I'm not worried, I don't want to think about it too much."
