MotoGP GP Spain Yamaha Petronas SRT 2021 – Franco Morbidelli achieved a great podium in the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix, race held in Jerez de la Frontera, on the track named after the late Angel Nieto.

The Italian-Brazilian rider of Team Yamaha Petronas gave his all aboard a 1 Yamaha M2019, which, thanks to the not too long straights, allowed him to finish third behind the official Ducatis of Jack Miller and "Pecco" Bagnaia. Here's what the #21 of Team Petronas said to Sky Sport.

“This podium, given the conditions I had on the track and the moment we are going through, counts as a victory. It was a fantastic weekend where we worked impeccably. This morning Ramon (Forcada, his chief engineer, ed.) made one final change which gave me that extra feeling which was then seen in the race. I managed to be consistent and in the end we were rewarded with this podium which has a really sweet and incredible taste. It's really nice to be on the podium, last year I won some races and it was nice, but this year I'm aware of the difficulty coefficient that has increased and therefore getting on the podium is beautiful. With these short straights we lost less time than the official Yamahas and the Ducatis. I had the opportunity to exploit my strong points which are braking and cornering.”

Statements Franco Morbidelli double-finger braking Spanish GP Jerez Race

“This weekend I had to start braking with two fingers because in some points I couldn't stop the bike. There are two really tough braking sections and with one finger I couldn't 'squeeze' the brake as much as we wanted. It was difficult at first but then we got used to it.”
