MotoGP Gp Americas Austin Race – A Marc Marquez in the “Sceriffo” version wins overwhelmingly at COTA, Circuit of The Americas, 15th stage of the 2021 MotoGP.

The Honda rider thus achieved his second victory of the season after the one at Sachsenring, on a circuit where he has won seven times out of eight participations, the victory only missing in 2019, when he crashed while largely leading. The eight-time world champion produced a masterpiece, leaving huge gaps behind the competition.

For Marquez, this is the 98th podium in MotoGP, the third of 2021 after the victory at Sachsenring and that of Aragon.

Fabio Quartararo, increasingly leading the world championship standings, crossed the finish line in second place, but with an embarrassing gap of 4.679s. Also on the podium was pole man Francesco Bagnaia, who limited the damage (losing "only" 5 points to Quartararo) after a forgettable warm up and an uphill first part of the race.

Of course, after pole we expected another race from "Pecco", but the Ducati rider never gave the impression of being able to be a protagonist and in the Championship he is now -52 behind Quartararo.

Fourth on the finish line was Alex Rins with Suzuki, who took advantage of a long-lap penalty inflicted on Jorge Martin (Ducati Pramac), with the Ducati Spaniard putting in a good race.

Another sensational race for Enea Bastianini (Ducati Avintia), who after obtaining his first MotoGP podium in Misano, finished sixth, after a hard entry by Joan Mir on Jack Miller (under investigation) "opened" the way for him .

Behind the Australian Ducati (eighth) we find the KTM of South African Brad Binder and the Honda Repsol of Pol Espargarò.

Andrea Dovizioso (Yamaha Petronas), Luca Marini (Ducati Sky VR46 Avintia) and Valentino Rossi (Yamaha Petronas) also scored points, with the nine-time world champion in last place in the first part of the race.

Difficult race for Danilo Petrucci (KTM Tech 3) and Franco Morbidelli (who rode the Yamaha Factory at Misano after knee surgery, ed.) who finished in 18th and 19th place.
