MotoGP GP Austin Repsol Honda Team – “Sheriff” Marc Marquez took victory in the Austin Grand Prix. The Spanish rider was the author of a perfect race, finishing with over 4 seconds ahead of the world championship leader, Fabio Quartararo. Physically he is not yet 100% but the world champion reiterated that it is necessary to grit his teeth if he wants to achieve results of this type. These are his statements to Sky's microphones.

Statements Marc Marquez, GP Austin Race

“After the Misano tests I told myself that I should have the mentality to push. I started badly on Friday, I saw that I was going fast but then I had to manage Saturday otherwise I would have arrived at the race tired. The race went as I thought, starting first straight away, going slow in the first laps and then going fast. I didn't expect that difference but I wanted to open the gap because I'm not ready for melee yet."

Marc Marquez statements on arm conditions

“Here I have always been strong in T1 but not this weekend because I couldn't do it as I liked. Here I struggled like the others because it is a physical circuit but I got tired like in Misano because I have to work twice as hard with the right-hand corners. I'm doing everything the doctor tells me, sometimes when I push I fall and I still don't know why. Having struggled, I won two races and got a podium but I'm not yet ready to fight for the title next year."

Marc Marquez statements on Austin circuit safety

“I really like this track but safety must always come first, it is certain that from turn 2 until after turn 10 something must be done. So he's still within the limit but if we come back here next year and it's worse, after that it will be too much. On Friday everyone was struggling but then during the weekend you set up the bike and it was acceptable and fun because you could push."
