MotoGP Repsol Honda Team – Marc Marquez and Alex Marquez are ready to compete in the first virtual MotoGP race, six laps of Mugello.

In a period where due to coronavirus we have to stay at home and with a world championship that has not yet started and is increasingly in doubt, we are making do as we can and on Sunday at Mugello there will be the first eSports challenge.

On the "track", joypad in hand, in addition to the Marquez brothers, also Maverick Vinales, Fabio Quartararo, Francesco Bagnaia and Alex Rins. The commentary will be by Guido Meda and Mauro Sanchini. The race will be preceded by a qualifying round and each rider will play with their own virtual motorbike, via live video connection from their gaming station.

The entire event, including qualifying, will be broadcast at 15pm on Sunday 00 March on motogp.com, sport.motogp.com and selected TV broadcasters, as well as on social media platforms including YouTube (via the MotoGP eSports channels and MotoGP), MotoGP Twitter and Instagram, Facebook (via the MotoGP and MotoGP eSports pages).

Statements Marc Marquez Virtual GP Mugello eSport

“We are all going through a difficult time, so it will be really nice to have some fun and bring some action to the fans. We are doing it for all the people who love MotoGP, to give them something beautiful in these incredibly difficult days; all this thanks to the other drivers and the organizer of the Championship. I'm at home, I'm training as much as possible and I'm safe. Alex (his brother, from this year also his team-mate in Team Honda Repsol, ed.) and I like playing MotoGP together, but now we have to be a little more 'serious'. It doesn't matter what we're racing, as drivers we want to win! With the race only being six laps I think we can be aggressive and push throughout the race. I can't wait to get on track!”
