Iannone Aprilia MotoGP World Championship – The FIM has announced the ruling on the doping case involving the rider Andrea Iannone, who was found positive for nandrolone during a test at the 2019 Malaysian Grand Prix.

The Aprilia rider was given an eighteen-month disqualification (end of sentence 16 June 2021). The sentence shows how the thesis of food contamination put forward by the pilot's defense was recognized and therefore also the total absence of malice and accidentality, but the eighteen months of suspension remain.

The pilot who had also undergone the hair analysis, which had given negative results, had already made it known that in the event of a conviction he would appeal to the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport).

Aprilia has made it known that it is totally on Iannone's side, here's what Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola said.

Massimo Rivola Aprilia statements on the Andrea Iannone doping affair

““The sentence leaves us disconcerted for the sentence inflicted on Andrea but also very satisfied with his motivations. The judges recognized Andrea's total good faith and unawareness in the intake, confirming the thesis of food contamination. For this reason the sentence inflicted makes no sense, in light of the reasons written by the judges themselves Andrea should have been acquitted, as has always happened to the other contaminated athletes, but this picture gives us a lot of hope for the appeal which we hope will be very quick. We want Andrea back on his Aprilia RS-GP, we will be at his side until the end of this matter and we will support him in his appeal."
