Yamaha MotoGP 2019 – The MotoGP stopped after the German Grand Prix for the summer break and will return to the track on August 2nd (first day of free practice for the Czech GP, ed.) in Brno.

Yamaha's journey so far has not been exciting, Valentino Rossi has achieved 2 podiums and three crashes, while Maverick Vinales has three podiums including a victory and has been "hit" three times, three crashes without any fault.

Rookie Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha Petronas SRT) instead impressed by taking 3 pole positions (the one in Jerez earned him the record as the youngest rider to win a pole, at 20 years and 14 days, ed.) and two podiums, Barcelona and Assen .

Massimo Meregalli, Monster Yamaha team manager, spoke about it to MotoGP.com, here's what he said.

“The results obtained did not live up to our expectations. I think bad luck played an important role, both Rossi and Vinales have three "zeros" and only two are their own fault. Vale (Rossi, ed.) has had a pretty strong start to the season, with two second places in Argentina and Austin, two decent results. More recently, he had three serious crashes, two due to errors, this is because at times we were forced to take more risks by being behind on the grid.”

“Maverick went the opposite way, only after Jerez did his performances become really strong.”

Statements Massimo Meregalli Monster Team Manager Yamaha Fabio Quartararo

“I think Fabio showed an extraordinary first part of the season given that he is a rookie and his team is new. He has had three pole positions and been on the podium twice in a row. Also considering the problem with his arm (he underwent surgery for compartment syndrome in his right arm, ed.), he was really good."

Statements Massimo Meregalli Monster Team Manager Yamaha Franco Morbidelli

“Franco went well in my opinion. We haven't seen him on the podium yet, but for me it's only a matter of time.”

Finally Meregalli spoke about what he expects from the second part of the season.

“The goal is to be strong in the second half of the season. We have nothing to lose in a certain sense, I think we will go on the attack in every race starting from FP1.”
