MotoGP | Malaysian GP Day 1: Maverick Vinales, “I feel really strong”

MotoGP GP Malaysia Sepang Monster Yamaha Day 1 – Maverick Vinales ended the first day of free practice at the Malaysian Grand Prix, the penultimate stage of the 2019 MotoGP, in fourth position in the combined time standings.

The Yamaha rider was among the fastest in the first round, finishing in third position just a tenth from the top. In the Malaysian afternoon, with the increase in temperatures he was unable to improve the performance recorded in the first round and finished in ninth position.

“I'm really happy, because I felt pretty good with the bike straight away. We found a really good rhythm. Especially in FP2 I tried to understand how things are for the race: the pace, the track, the slippery conditions. I felt good, that's the most important thing and tomorrow we have a good chance to hit our target and be on the front row. I feel very strong, we are capable of doing a good job. I'm trying to improve myself, where I believe I can still improve, and we'll see where we can get to. But I think we have a good opportunity for Sunday.”
