MotoGP Australian GP Phillip Island Honda Repsol Day 1 – Johann Zarco ended the first day of free practice for the Australian Grand Prix, seventeenth stage of the 2019 MotoGP, in fifteenth position.

The French rider returned to the track after being stopped by KTM and took to the track for the first time astride a Honda. The conditions were not ideal, given the rain, but the #5 showed himself to be at ease.

“With the rain this morning it wasn't easy to discover the bike, but it was good, because in the rain you go slower so you have more time. In the wet conditions it was a bit scary, but I didn't go too slow, which was very positive. In the afternoon it was good to really test the bike in dry conditions and get some real information. It wasn't easy and I went step by step to build the right confidence. On this track you really need trust, because to make the corners fast you have to trust. But step by step I improved, not enough to be in the top 10, but at least I was able to do a decent time. It will be a difficult weekend to find new limits and put myself at a very high level of performance again, but that is the challenge and I will give my best."
