Moto3 Silverstone, Qualifying: Pole position for Maverick Vinales

A cloudy sky and a strong wind with 16 degrees in the air and 20 on the asphalt were the setting for the Moto3 class qualifying at Silverstone, the sixth race of the 2012 world championship, where the British Grand Prix will be held tomorrow (which for the occasion will see the pilots of the smallest class leave at 15.30 pm).

The drivers didn't want to take any risks and, thinking about the possible arrival of rain, they all took to the track from the start of the session, pulling straight away as if it were the last minutes of the session.

The times were immediately faster than those recorded in free practice and in the end the pole position was won by Maverick Vinales, riding the FTR Honda of Team Blusens Avintia who stopped the clock at a time of 2:16.187. This is the third consecutive pole for the Spaniard after those achieved at Le Mans and Barcelona.

Second time for compatriot Efren Vazquez, also riding an FTR Honda but of Team JHK Laglisse (+198 thousandths). Third is Alexis Masbou riding the Honda of Team Caretta Technology. The French rider preceded the KTMs of Team Red Bull Ajo of world leader Sandro Cortese and the British Danny Kent. Sixth is the Spaniard Luis Salom (RW Racing GP – 2:17.084)

Le Mans winner Louis Rossi is seventh ahead of the Malaysian Khairuddin and our Romano Fenati, riding the FTR Honda of Team Italia. “Fenny” who finished 1"717 behind Vinales was followed by Alex Rins, the Spanish rider of Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 who took pole in Jerez.

Good qualifications for Alessandro Tonucci and Niccolò Antonelli who finished in twelfth and thirteenth position respectively. The Team Gresini rider lapped with a fever of 38,5 and for this reason his thirteenth time takes on even more value. Further back, Simone Grotzkyj finished twenty-fifth on the Suter Honda of Team Ambrogio Next Racing.
