Moto3 Sepang, Free Practice 2: Folger ahead of Cortese

Jonas Folger, after setting the best time in the first free practice session of the Moto3 class in Sepang, also achieved the best time in Free Practice 2 of the third to last stage of the 2012 world championship.

The Team Aspar rider stopped the clock at a time of 2:15.038, placing world leader Sandro Cortese, riding the KTM of Team Red Bull Ajo, behind world leader Sandro Cortese by 241 thousandths. Thanks to the absence of Maverick Vinales who broke up with his team and who will not be at the start of the last three races of the season, the title for Cortese remains a formality.

The Italian-German in a session that saw the rain falling with eight minutes remaining before the end of the session, preceded the home rider Zulfahmi Khairuddin, the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira and our Alessandro Tonucci, on the podium in Motegi and who next year he will no longer be part of the Italia team (his place will be taken by Francesco Bagnaia) but of the Caretta Technology team.

Tonucci precedes the Frenchman Louis Rossi and team-mate Romano Fenati, recovering from the morning's free practice, where he was also the protagonist of a forehand together with Niklas Ajo. The driver from the Marches who pays 1.193 from the top precedes Luis Salom (who will be penalized by five positions on the grid due to the events in Motegi), Alex Rins and the winner of Motegi, the British Danny Kent, who closes the Top Ten.

Further back were the other Italians with Niccolò Antonelli 28th with the FTR Honda of Team Gresini, Armando Pontone 30th with the Ioda and Riccardo Moretti 31st with the Mahindra.
