Moto3 Sepang: Pole for Binder, excellent third for Bagnaia
Second row for Lorenzo Dalla Porta and Niccolò Antonelli
GP Malaysia Moto3 Qualifying Tests – Qualifying for the Moto3 class in Sepang was characterized by the weather.
The session began with the risk of rain and in fact after a few minutes a downpour arrived which forced those who had risked the slicks (including our Nicolò Bulega and Francesco Bagnaia) to hastily return to the pits to put on the rains.
The rain then increased lap after lap and with 20 minutes to go the red flag was waved due to really difficult weather conditions.
Up to that moment the fastest had been the Spaniard Jorge Navarro, who had taken his Honda to the top with a time of 2:26.984 and ahead of the KTM of our Lorenzo Dalla Porta, Sky VR46 rider, trailing by just 94 thousandths.
The drivers then returned to the track and despite the wet asphalt in the last minutes there was a great fight for the pole position, which went to Brad Binder (2:26.268, sixth pole of the season), who right under the checkered flag he mocked for Spaniard Jorge Navarro only 93 thousandths of a second.
Francesco Bagnaia (in the photo) had a great qualifying, always fighting for pole and setting the third fastest time. The Mahindra driver will therefore start from the front row.
In the second row we find two other Italians, Lorenzo Dalla Porta (4th and his best career qualifying) and Niccolò Antonelli, sixth. Between the two Gabriel Rodrigo.
Bo Bendsneyder, Jorge Martin and Fabio Quartararo will start from the third row. Andrea Locatelli will start from the fourth row, Nicolò Bulega from the fifth and Fabio di Giannantonio from the seventh.
