Moto3 Sachsenring, FP2: Mir in the lead, Fenati is second, bad fall for Martin
Jorge Martin suffered a fracture of his right ankle and a small injury to the right proximal fibula
Moto3 German GP Free Practice 2 – World championship leader Joan Mir achieved the best time in the Free Practice 2 of the Moto3 class at the Sachsenring, the ninth stage and halfway point of the 2017 world championship.
The Leopard Racing rider (who will race in Moto2 next year) stopped the clock at a time of 1:27.179, placing our Romano Fenati, rider of the Team Marinelli Rivacold Snipers, 0.676s behind him.
The session, however, was characterized by a bad fall for Jorge Martin. The Team Gresini rider (the fastest in FP1) was the victim of a high-side and unfortunately suffered a fracture of his right ankle and a small infraction at the level of the right proximal fibula. A terrible blow for Team Gresini and for Martin, to whom we all wish a speedy recovery.
Returning to the ranking with the third time we find Philipp Oettl on KTM, followed by the Belgian Livio Loi (Honda), by our Nicolò Bulega (KTM Sky VR46), by Marcos Ramirez (KTM), by our Enea Bastianini (Honda Monlau) and by Aron Canet, Bastianini's team-mate. Closing out the Top Ten are Bo Bendsneyder with the KTM and Jakub Kornfeil.
Fabio di Giannantonio on the Team Gresini Honda is twelfth, ahead of rookie Tony Arbolino. The other Italians are Manuel Pagliani seventeenth, Andrea Migno twentieth, Marco Bezzecchi twenty-fifth and Lorenzo Dalla Porta thirty-first.
Niccolò Antonelli is absent after suffering a hernia between the sixth and seventh cervical vertebra during Saturday morning free practice in Assen. He should return to Brno.
