GP Qatar Moto3 Day 1 – on the same circuit in the Qatari desert on which the last winter tests were carried out, the season has finally started for the two drivers of the Gresini Racing Team. If for Enea Bastianini this is his third year as a world champion, the same cannot be said for his new teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio who is making his debut in the MotoGP.
The young man from Rimini concluded this first day of free practice with the 14th time (2'06"567), saying he was satisfied with the feeling achieved.
30th time for the rookie Fabio DiGiannantonio which always ran on used tyres.

“I'm happy because the front end problems that we encountered during testing now seem to have been definitively resolved – he explained Enea Bastianini – in fact, I struggled to have a good feeling on the front wheel, while now I feel more comfortable on the saddle. Many riders are going strong, but we are working in the right direction and if tomorrow we manage to continue in the same direction we will certainly be able to work better in general on the bike's set-up and therefore improve ourselves, in particular on the flying lap, an aspect where it seems that the others are able to make a greater difference at this moment than we can."

“In the first round I immediately felt at ease, managing to make good sections – the words of Fabio DiGiannantonio after his first official session – even if in the end the lap time wasn't very good, after which at the beginning of the second session I improved, dropping to 2'08”2 on used tyres. At the end, unfortunately, I wasn't able to take advantage of the new tire and as a result we ended the evening trailing in the standings, but apart from this I can be happy because I achieved my best lap alone, something I hadn't done in the tests. I'm already thinking about improving myself tomorrow: I would at least like to replicate the time achieved a few days ago in the tests, and why not lower it. However, the bike is going very well, I have to improve in terms of riding."
