It was presented this afternoon in Barcelona in the hospitality of Came Iodaracing Team, the new TR004 Moto3. The completely renewed motorbike compared to the one that raced in the 2012 world championship with Jonas Folger and "Gigio" Morciano was designed by two engineers from the Terni factory (an Italian and a Spanish) and uses a Honda NSF 250R engine.

As regards the suspensions, we chose to use the Swedish Ohlins, while for the exhaust there is the "hand" of Arrow. Giampiero Sacchi, owner of Iodaracing, was obviously present at the presentation and in addition to the two engineers mentioned above, Johann Zarco was also present, a French rider who currently races in Moto2 with the Terni team (at Mugello he obtained his first podium with the Suter) and who will be one of the first to take the new bike to the track. The French driver offered to test the potential of the TR004 to the limit, putting his experience at his disposal.

Fourth bike from the Terni factory led by Giampiero Sacchi, the TR004 is the concentration of the experiences of the two TRs (the 001 and the 002) which have raced in the Moto3 since its debut as a world category, the first in the Italian Speed Championship, the second in the world championship in 2012, while the TR003, presented in 2012, raced last season in the MotoGP class with Danilo Petrucci.

The frame has a double descending beam and is made of the best quality aluminum alloys for use on welded structures. The beams are extruded from aluminum alloy and not from folded or pressed and welded sheet metal. This technical feature has led to huge investments in research and development. After welding the beams, the frame is heat treated and worked with a machine tool to obtain all the functional points within very narrow dimensional tolerances. The TR004, as is very common in racing motorcycles, adopts steering bushings and the swingarm pin which allow modification of the cycling dimensions: wheelbase, steering angle, trail and heights can be varied to enable the rider and the team to obtain the best possible set up on every type of track.

Much care has also been given to the rear swingarm which is made of pressed sheet metal together with parts machined from solid wood. Like the frame, all functional points are taken up after welding: swingarm ends (chain tensioner seats), bearing seat in the swingarm head and connecting rod connection. The rear suspension system of the TR004 adopts a classic pro-link system. The progressiveness of the link was developed after the experience in the 3 Moto2012 World Championship with the Ioda TR002, but this aspect in particular will be further addressed depending on the needs which Ioda Motor Company will verify during further development. The shock absorber, very short, is positioned at the bottom, compared to the general geometry of the bike (much more than is now done in frames that house Honda engines). The ergonomics of the TR004 have been extensively addressed and on this point it was fundamental to think of footrests that were as customizable as possible. These components are machined from solid aluminum alloy and have the most important feature of being able to be adjusted to 6 positions without changing any parts. Furthermore, the particular processing of these components gives high rigidity to improve the rider's driving sensations. The upper part of the TR004 is characterized by the tank and airbox assembly. The first element is made of pressed aluminum sheet and welded in the upper part, while the lower area, which houses the petrol pump, was machined from a single piece of aluminium. For the airbox, however, carbon fiber with aluminum alloy inserts was chosen.

The engineering department of Ioda Motor Company, led by engineer Luis Tintorè, worked for a long time on this component. The final objective was to increase the flow of air sucked in by the engine and, consequently, its performance. To achieve this, a lot of work was done in the air inlet area in the airbox, where we tried to channel the flow of fresh air towards a large filter surface. The total airbox volume of the TR004 is significantly higher than that of the TR002, which competed in the 2012 Moto3 world championship.

The Ioda TR004 is offered for sale in two versions: TR004 Complete – Complete motorcycle with Honda engine (+ Geo engine kit) + electronics with garden control unit and dashboard: €110.425,00 (+ VAT) TR004 KIT – TR004 chassis + shock absorber + rear rim + rear brake disc: €73.450,00 (+ VAT) – This kit does not include: engine, possible engine kit, front fork, front brake calipers, front brake discs, front rim, rear brake caliper, control unit, dashboard, sensors, while the wiring for the electronics is supplied because it is dedicated. The TR004 KIT was designed for those who already use motorcycles with Honda engines and inconsequentially already have at their disposal: the engine, the suspensions, the rims, the brake systems, the control unit and all the electronics.
