Moto3 Motegi: Fenati takes pole position
First career pole for the Team Sky VR46 driver, Antonelli will start from the second row
Moto3 2015 Motegi Qualifying – Romano Fenati conquered the first pole position of his career at Motegi, also setting the new Motegi record lap, 1.56.4784
The Team Sky VR46 rider also crashed without suffering any physical consequences. The Portuguese Miguel Oliveira (KTM Red Bull Ajo) and the Spaniard Jorge Navarro (Honda Estrella Galicia 0,0) will start with him on the front row.
The second row will be opened by Niccolò Antonelli (Honda), who after being the fastest in all three free practice sessions, achieved the fourth fastest time in qualifying. In the crucial stages he crashed at turn 5 and was unable to take part in the final stage of the session. The Team Ongetta Rivacold rider lapped in 1:56.887, a time that allowed him to precede his compatriot and brandmate Enea Bastianini (Team Gresini) and world championship leader Danny Kent, also on Honda.
In the third row we find Isaac Vinales, Jakub Kornfeil and Livio Loi, winner this year in Indianapolis, in a race characterized by the weather and which saw the Belgian start on slicks when the asphalt was still largely wet.
Francesco Bagnaia (Mahindra Team Aspar) will start from the fourth row. “Pecco” is tight in the group formed by the South African Brad Binder and the Japanese Hiroki Ono.
