Moto3 GP France Race – John McPhee wins the Moto3 class French Grand Prix, fifth stage of the 2019 MotoGP championship.

Arbolino gets off to a good start and manages to immediately take the lead of the race from the front row, but is chased by Suzuki from the first corner. The Japanese, a few laps later, takes the lead of the race by imposing a pace that from the first corners, together with the spectacular fall, fortunately without consequences, of Ogura, causes the group to break up. Behind him the only ones keeping up are: Arbolino, Rodrigo, Miigo, McPhee and Dalla Porta.

With 14 laps to go Migno breaks the deadlock and takes the top of the standings, but the fight for the top is tight and full of overtaking and counter-overtaking.

With 6 laps to go the twist, Tatsuki Suzuki crashes while fighting for the victory, also involving Tony Arbolino. A few laps earlier Niccolò Antonelli had also crashed, a race to forget for the SIC58 team after the extraordinary one-two in Jerez.

With 3 laps to go the leading group regroups, 12 riders fighting for the victory. The race was resolved only under the checkered flag, with McPhee crossing the finish line first ahead of Lorenzo Dalla Porta and Aron Canet.

Gabriel Rodrigo (Gresini) closes out of the podium, ahead of Andrea Migno, hindered by teammate Jaume Masia (penalized for cuts), and Kaito Toba. Celestino Vietti (Sky Racing Team VR46), author of a great comeback, finished in seventh position. Makar Yurchenko is eighth, ahead of Jakub Kornfeil and Raul Fernandez who completes the top ten.

Many falls during the race including that of Dennis Foggia, while he was fighting for sixth position, while Romano Fenati was forced to retire due to ankle pain, an injury suffered during qualifying.
