Moto3 | GP Qatar Race: Migno beats Garcia, Foggia is seventh
Second victory for the Team Honda Snipers rider, amazing comeback for Foggia
Moto3 GP Qatar Race – Andrea Migno wins the Qatar Grand Prix, first stage of the 2022 Moto3 class.
It seemed like the race was over, with Ayumu Sasaki, starting from pole and the undisputed leader of the race and capable of an incredible pace, with 6 laps to go, after a crash the Japanese was forced to slow down due to the open hull.
The standard bearer of the Max Racing Team thus leaves the way open to the pursuers, led by Andrea Migno in incredible form.
The race was resolved only at the checkered flag with the Team Snipers driver winning in the sprint over Sergio Garcia (GASGAS) and Kaito Toba (CIP). Second career victory for the Italian, after Mugello 2017. An Italian hadn't won on the Losai circuit since 2016, on that occasion it was Niccolò Antonelli.
Off the podium was Deniz Oncu (KTM Ajo) ahead of John McPhee (Max Racing Team) and Diego Moreira (MT).
After the penalty imposed, two long lap penalties and starting from the back of the grid, Dennis Foggia (Leopard) finished in seventh position ahead of Izan Guevara (GAS GAS) and Ryusei Yamanaka (MT). Xavier Artigas (Pruestel GP) closes the top ten.
Riccardo Rossi (SIC58 Squadra Corse) and Stefano Nepa (MTA) are out of the ten, claiming 12th and 13th position respectively.
The other Italians are out of the points: Matteo Bertelle (Avintia) 17th, Elia Bartolini (Avintia) 18th. Retirement for Alberto Surra (Snipers).
Ana Carrasco, the only woman on the track and 2018 champion of the Supersport 300, finished 20th, ahead of Gerard Riu Male (BOE) and Joshua Whatley (VisionTrack).
