Moto3 Estoril, Free Practice 2: Oliveira ahead of Cortese

The second free practice session of the Moto3 class on the Portuguese circuit of Estoril saw mild weather with 31° on the asphalt and a sky that was still threatening. The riders then took to the track with slick tires to battle it out and look for the best set-up for the bikes that this year replace the "old" eighth-litre bikes, bikes that retired in Valencia 2011 and which had seen Nico Terol triumph.

The fastest on track in the forty minute session was Miguel Oliviera, rider of Team Estrella Galicia 0,0. The Portuguese who lapped in 1:48.497, just at the end of the session he beat Sandro Cortese, the KTM rider who had been in the lead for a good part of the session, by just 14 thousandths.

Fourth time for Maverick Vinales; the Team Blusens Avintia driver preceded the Frenchman Alexis Masbou and our Romano Fenati, who after a study phase finished in seventh position, 1"063 from the top. Let's remember that the world ranking leader had never raced on the Portuguese circuit, which is why his result can be considered very good.

The Team Italia rider is followed by the KTM of the British Danny Kent and the Honda FTRs of Louis Rossi and Adrian Martin. The Australian Arthur Sissis closes the Top Ten, riding the KTM of Team Red Bull KTM Ajo.

The other Italian drivers are Alessandro Tonucci 17th, Niccolò Antonelli 20th, Manuel Tatasciore 27th, Luigi Morciano 30th and Armando Pontone 34th. As written instead in one previous news Simone Grotzkyj will not take part in the GP, suffering from severe food poisoning.
