Moto3 Barcelona, Free Practice 1: Italian dominance, Antonelli ahead of Fenati and Bastianini
Rookie Nicolò Bulega and Francesco Bagnaia also did well
GP of Catalunya Moto3 Free Practice 1 – Niccolò Antonelli (Honda) set the best time of the first free practice session of the Moto3 class in Barcelona, scene of the Catalunya Grand Prix.
The Team Ongetta Rivacold rider stopped the clock at a time of 1:51.729, a time that allowed him to precede his compatriots Romano Fenati (KTM Sky VR46 +0.301s) and Enea Bastianini (Honda Gresini +0.501s).
A great session for the Italian riders, given that in the top ten we also find the rookie Nicolò Bulega (KTM Sky VR46, fifth time) and Francesco Bagnaia (Mahindra Team Aspar, eighth time).
In the last minutes of the session it seemed like we were in qualifying, a "rain" of "red helmets" in fact set the monitors on fire and as mentioned it was Antonelli who came out on top, author of his best performance on the last of his sixteen passes.
In the Top Ten we also find Jakub Kornfeil (fourth), Brad Binder (sixth), Aron Canet (seventh), Khairul Idham Pawi (ninth) and Jorge Martin (tenth).
A technical problem took Jorge Navarro (Honda Monlau) out of the fight for the top positions, and he finished fifteenth fastest.
