Moto3 Assen: Enea Bastianini “Being in front is a unique emotion”
In Assen his team-mate Niccolò Antonelli was eleventh
Best time on Day 1 of Assen for Enea Bastianini. The young Team Gresini rider, after reaching the podium in Barcelona, gave his best on a known track. Last year he in fact rode there in the Red Bull Rookies Cup. A great emotion that he described like this.
“I didn't expect to be the fastest straight away, I'm very happy! Being in front is a unique emotion. In the first session, this morning, I rode using the references from last year, when I raced here with the MotoGP Rookies Cup, finishing poorly, while in the afternoon I managed to change my references and consequently interpret the track better. Plus I felt very comfortable with the bike and so a good time was achieved. In any case, I don't set any goals for the weekend: for me, being in the top 5, or even the top 10, is already a good result; everything else is an extra.”
Eleventh time for his team-mate Niccolò Antonelli who said: “I'm very happy with what I did today: I've always maintained a good pace and without traffic I could have achieved a better time by about three tenths. There's still a little something missing, small things that however can make the difference: the bike is in fact a little nervous in the braking points at the entrance to the fastest corners, so tomorrow we will work to try to improve mainly this aspect."
