Moto3 | GP Jerez Qualifying: Alonso dominates and takes pole, Carraro is tenth
The Team Aspar driver preceded Munoz and Veijer
Moto3 GP Spain Jerez Qualifying – David Alonso (CFMoto) took pole position in the Moto3 class Spanish Grand Prix, the fourth round of the 2024 MotoGP, scheduled for tomorrow in Jerez.
The #80 of Team Aspar literally dominated qualifying, leaving huge gaps over the competition, reaching a time of 1:44.954. For Alonso it is the second pole of his career, second in a row.
David Munoz (KTM BOE Motorsports) and Collin Veijer (Husqvarna Intact GP) will also start on the front row, 0.220s and 1.099s behind respectively.
Joel Kelso with the second KTM of Team BOE Motorsports is fourth and will have Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM MT Helmets – MSI) and Angel Piqueras (Honda Leopard) next to him on the second row.
Third row for Ivan Ortolà (KTM MT Helmets – MSI), for the Team Aspar rookie Joel Esteban (CFMOTO) and Tatsuki Suzuki (Husqvarna Intact GP).
The best of the Italian riders is Nicola Carraro (KTM MTA), tenth, ahead of his compatriot and team-mate Stefano Nepa and Adrian Fernandez (Honda Leopard). Fourteenth and fifteenth place for Riccardo Rossi (KTM CIP) and Filippo Farioli (Honda SIC58 Squadra Corse).
Among others, our Matteo Bertelle (Honda Snipers) and Luca Lunetta (Honda SIC1 Squadra Corse) did not pass Q58, who will start from the 19th and 20th place. Crash at the start of the session and no time recorded for World Championship leader Daniel Holgado (GASGAS Tech3) and his team-mate Jacob Roulstone.
